Lexathon™ word scramble cracks 200,000 downloads

Lexathon™ that great Android word scramblefrom indie developer XandarMob has just zipped past the 200,000 download mark and we have celebrated by releasing version 2.0.1.

You can pick it up now from Google Play or GetJar.

The new version patches in some of the dictionary changes being made by you guys in our quest to get a well rounded dictionary. Lexathon's dictionary was composited from a number of online sources and then run through several filters to remove proper names, esoteric, archaic and abbreviated forms, as well as dialectical variants. The aim to provide a dictionary that everyone could feel they had a reasonable chance of knowing most of the words but wide enough to provide a bit of a challenge and some education. I think we have largely succeeded but we intend to keep on improving it by curating those words you add/remove to your Lexathon dictionaries.

Full release notes below:
  • Added preferences to ignore news and update notifications.
  • Stopped notifications causing OverviewActivity from starting twice.
  • Improved dictionary - added 17 words, removed 6 based on user dictionary changes.
  • Fixed error reading news for Android 2.1 and below.

Jumblee Words 1.6.0 released

That's right word fiends, version 1.6.0 of Jumblee Words that most addictive of Android word games has been released.

Two of the most requested features are included, namely the ability to choose Jumbles with a certain number of words thereby controlling length of play and/or difficulty, and the ability to have the "Clear" button only erase the last letter entered. Note that the single letter erasure is now the default behaviour, so if you prefer whole word erasure (and yes, I'll admit I'm in that category) then you'll need to go into Game Preferences and change the "Clear button options".

Full release notes are as follows:

  • Added the "Game size" preference so you can choose how long a game should last.
  • Added the "Clear button options" preference that allows the Clear button remove a single letter instead of clearing entire word (enabled by default).
  • Changed landscape layout for tablets to make button navigation quicker.
  • Changed landscape layout for large devices to make shuffle button available.
  • Fixed a bug that stopped you from setting your global profile image.

So I've taken up enough of your time, back to your Jumbling.

Jumblee Words 1.5.2 released - 76 years of game play

A new version of Jumblee Words, that addictive Android word game has been published to the Android market. The new version fixes a number of bugs including some memory leaks that have been causing a few crashes, especially for those playing for extended periods.

The game screen has also been changed so that it is more obvious that valid words must be at least 4 letters long and must contain the central letter, a fact which unfortunately seems to have eluded a few people.

The week we are also celebrating 76 man years of Jumblee game play. I like to think that this has been time spent sharpening people's minds so that they are ready to take on new and bigger challenges out in the real world. But if not well at least it helped kill some time while sitting on the bus.

A full list of changes for this release are as follows:

  • Added handling to make it even more obvious that word must contain the central letter plus at least 3 others.
  • Improved performance of screen redraw with new LetterButton colourings.
  • Resolved several OutOfMemory errors that could occur if playing for some time.
  • Fixed occasional crash on game start for some Android-1.6 devices.
  • Fixed occasional crash with media playback when all words are found.
  • Fixed crash on startup for Android 2.0
  • Fixed rare crash on start up.
So now that the game is more bullet proof, go get Jumbling in style!
